Environmental responsibility

Bristol-Myers Squibb is committed to protecting the environment and the health and safety of our employees, our customers, and the public. We strive to conduct our activities in an environmentally-sustainable manner, taking into consideration the complex and interconnected relationship of our ecosystem

In Australia, Bristol-Myers Squibb is pleased to be involved in a range of activities and projects aimed at achieving the Company's Sustainability 2010 Goals. These include:

Support for endangered native animals

Bristol-Myers Squibb sponsors a program preserve the critically-endangered Brush-Tailed Rock Wallaby.  This marsupial was once wide-spread in areas of eastern Australia, but now only occurs in small fragmented populations. Partnering with the Brush-Tail Rock Wallaby Recovery Team in conjuntion with Victoria's Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary, Bristol-Myers Squibb has pledged support for education and preservation initiatives.

Greenfleet membership

Bristol-Myers Squibb partners with its employees to support the work of Greenfleet - a not-for-profit organisation working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from cars. For every employee whose company or private car is signed up, Greenfleet plants 17 trees. These trees will, as they grow, absorb the estimated 4.3 tonnes of greenhouse gases that an average car produces in one year and will also help address salinity, improve water quality, and provide essential habitat for native wildlife species.
